In 1893, Alice Korner hired Professor Charles Brockman from Greensboro, NC to teach music to the children. She bought musical instruments for those who were musically inclined, which continued to develop during the years she lived in the town. Alice Korner also developed a love for theatre and decided to create a drama society. She held her first meeting on April 3, 1896, with 42 kids in attendance.
